About Don McGinnis
Serving Through Presence
Through our own suffering, we come to a place where our depth of understanding can be offered to others. I have been in the helping profession for four decades, studying with great teachers for decades too.
My main role has been educator, from the latin ‘educare’ to bring forth the wisdom from within.
My professional work has been with those recovering from addiction and in the realm of mental health. In that context, I have worked in Day Hospital treatment programs, Residential Treatment Facilities, Community Outpatient programs, Mental Health Centers, and on the streets. I’ve been at the foundation of innovative programs, eager to bring the body-centered aspect forward. And yet, an educational approach always helps build the skills, awareness, and courage we need to move forward.
In 2004, I was key in bringing the Insight Training, ‘Awakening the Heart’ seminar to Vancouver
I have also run several wonderful weekend retreats, using the practices of Kum Nye and Loving Presence to assist our deepening into Presence.
I am also Hakomi trained, a student of more than ten years.
These days, I am practicing and teaching Kum Nye, and offering individual body-centered sessions. I have recently completed five seasons (60 shows!) on Awake TV network, all centered around the practice of Kum Nye. My joy is to serve through presence.
I am profoundly aware that this is a time in our history where we all play a vital part in shaping our future. I want to play my part and inspire others to do the same.
